Payson Hiking: Monument Peak Trail

Hike Monument Peak Trail Like a Local

Whenever someone new comes to town and says, "I want to go hiking" but we don't have a lot of time - I take them to this trail.  Why?  Because it is easy to access, a quick and fun hike and it shows a lot of the different greenery of Payson.  Oh, and it has a natural spring that is flowing water year round.  This trail has everything from pine trees, shaded wooded areas, a small seasonal stream and an open meadow.  You will enjoy this trail!

How to Get There:
From the Highway 87 & Highway 260 intersection, turn right (east) and head 0.3 miles to
Granite Dells Road, past Safeway (it is actually the stoplight just past Safeway).  Turn right and head east on Granite Dells Road for 3.3 miles until the open turn‐around area for parking on the east side of Granite Dells Road.  The road will turn to graded dirt from paved about 1.2 miles from Safeway.

Distance: 3.3 Miles
Time: 2 Hours
Difficulty: Easy
